I ate a lot of meat sticks and beef jerky in my day, including some of the top brands you see while shopping at Costco, Sam's Club, your local grocery store or even online.
They’re probably my favorite high protein snack given that they’re the easiest to eat - just rip open the package and start chompin’. But when 1st Phorm launched their own meat sticks featuring 20g of protein, I knew I had to give them a try.
Now, for context, I’m a regular 1st Phorm customer. I wear 1st Phorm apparel and use many of their supplements, along with other supplement brands. I already knew that their products are high quality, which made it easy for me to give the meat sticks a try. However, for the purpose of this review, I’m going to keep it honest and unbiased.
That said, I’m also pretty picky about my meat sticks. I don’t like spicy beef sticks all that much (I’m more of an original flavor type of guy), and if it doesn’t taste good, I’ll never buy them again.
So, let’s get started here. I’ll explain why I love meat sticks so much, talk about some of the other meat stick brands I eat, and share my experience with 1st Phorm Meat Sticks.
Rating 1st Phorm Meat Sticks
1st Phorm Meat Sticks are bigger and better than other protein sticks, featuring 20 grams of protein per stick, which makes it an excellent high-protein snack that's convenient and tasty.
Brand
1st Phorm scores high in the brand category as they are committed to making high quality products and outstanding customer service. Their meat sticks are made with lean beef and pork from American farms.
Taste
These high protein meat sticks score a 4.5/5 for taste (very good). I have ate many meat sticks in my day and these are up there in terms of taste. What's more is they are much healthier than traditional meat sticks
Convenience
1st Phorm Protein Meat Sticks score a perfect 5/5 for convenience, as I use them as a high-protein snack in between meals, on-the-go, and anytime I feel a hunger strike. Rip it open and start chompin' - doesn't get more convenient than that.
Value
I scored the value at 4.5/5 because they are on the pricier side when it comes to meat sticks. However, they still score high due to the fact that each stick has 20 grams of protein, which is hard to find any where else.
Effectiveness
I rated the effectiveness as a perfect 5/5 stars because every time I eat one of these meat sticks, I feel great and I know I just got another 20 grams of protein - it helps me reach my protein goals so I can continue building muscle.
Why I Love High Protein Snacks, Like Meat Sticks
Like most people reading this post, I too am always looking to find easy ways to get more protein in my diet. I’m currently working on building muscle, strength training 4 days per week (sometimes 5) and eating healthy foods that make me feel better rather than junk food, which makes me feel like crap.
That’s where high protein meat sticks come in, and here’s a few reasons why I love them:
Here Are Some Other Meat Stick Brands That I Eat
CHOMPS

I keep a lot of high protein snacks in my pantry. Here, you'll see 1st phorm protein sticks next to CHOMPS.
Who doesn’t like chomps? They’re priced competitively, taste great and have 10 grams of protein per meat stick. Plus, I can get them at Costco - this makes it super convenient for me. I still buy these on a weekly basis because my whole family likes them. Plus, I like to change up my meat sticks - they all taste a little different and I like a nice variety of them.
Archer Grass-Fed Beef Sticks (MINIS)
I buy these at Costco every once in a while. They taste good, but I have to eat 4 of them just to get 16 grams of protein in because there are only 4 grams of protein per stick. They’re great for a quick snack, but I only buy them when there aren’t any other options at Costco.
FATTY 2 OZ Original
I found these through an influencer I follow and decided to give it a try. They taste good, but there are some major drawbacks. First, they cost $64 for a 20 pack. And second, there are only 13 grams of protein per stick. To me, they aren’t worth the price. I can get more bang for my buck with 1st Phorm. Plus I think the 1st Phorm Meat sticks taste better. I might buy more if they’re on sale or they give me a coupon in the future. Otherwise, it’s a pass for me here on out.
My Experience With 1st Phorm Meat Sticks - Bigger Is Better

You know what they say… “bigger is better.” Well, I’m here to tell you that yes, it’s true with 1st Phorm Meat Sticks.
I remember buying my first 15-count of the Original Smokehouse protein sticks on 1st Phorm’s website. 20 grams of protein per stick was eye-opening because most of the protein sticks I have been eating were 10-12 grams of protein at most.
The other things I really liked about them:
Needless to say, I was very excited to receive my package at my front door in just a few days. Inside the box was a handwritten note from one of the employees - thanking me for being a customer and wished me luck reaching my fitness goals. Every time I get those notes it reminds me of college football recruiting - makes you feel wanted and appreciated. Nice touch, 1st Phorm.
The meat sticks come in a cool stand up box, making it easy to grab one and go. The packaging on each meat stick is air tight and really easy to open - BIG PRO (no one likes a hard-to-open meat stick).

Taking my first bite was like a slice of heaven. A mixture of feeling like a man, knowing I’m fueling my body, and also like a kid at a candy store - mouth watering. I could feel the difference eating 20 grams of protein in one stick. It was like I ate two CHOMPS, but better because it was only 1 1st Phorm Meat Stick. What a great concept.

Meat sticks are convenient as heck - rip it open, start eating - simple.
After I ate my first one, I was hooked and I tried out all the flavors. I’ll list the flavors here, I’ve tried them all. I’ll also include a note on each one explaining how I liked it, or didn’t.
1st Phorm Meat Stick Flavors I’ve Tried
Original Smokehouse

They're much thicker than most beef sticks, that's for sure.
My favorite by far, but I’m an original type of guy. These taste like your classic beef jerky stick, but leave you feeling much healthier after you eat them. They are my go-to for in between meals, before bed and for the road.
Breakfast Sausage
Love them, but only at breakfast time. They really do taste like a breakfast sausage - nailed the flavor.
Cajun Style
Didn’t like them, but I don’t really like spicy foods all that much. This was a little too spicy for me. However, I will say that I definitely tasted the cajun. So if you like cajun style, you could really like these.
Sharp Cheddar
I love the sharp cheddar flavor, it’s probably #2 on my list behind the Original Smokehouse. You can really taste the cheddar and it reminds me of my father-in-law’s deer sticks that he sends me after hunting season.
Seasoned Barbecue
These ones are very flavorful and taste just like barbecue. Everytime I eat one, it reminds me of outdoor grilling. I don’t buy these often, but when I do, I enjoy them.
Jalapeno Heat
Although I don’t like spicy foods, I’d rather have the Jalapeno Heat over the Cajun Style meat sticks. They nailed the taste with these ones, they’re very tasty, but again, a little too spicy for me to be eating them all the time. Definitely nice to eat every once in a while to change up the taste buds.
When Do I Eat Them?
In general, I eat a 1st Phorm Meat Stick when I get a hunger strike.
My favorite times to eat them are in between meals and for a high protein snack before bedtime, which helps me sleep better.
Sometimes, I’ll eat one at breakfast time with eggs and sausage, just to up my protein a bit more. And I’ll eat one before a high school football practice or my son’s youth practice (I coach both high school and youth football).
There are days where I’ll eat 2 or 3, and others where I’ll eat just one.
Like I mentioned in the beginning of the article, we also buy CHOMPS, so I’ll mix them up - eat a CHOMP between breakfast and lunch, and a 1st Phorm Meat Stick between lunch and dinner.
How Much Do They Cost?
1st Phorm Protein Sticks cost $42.99 for a 15-count box. That’s $2.86 per meat stick. The value is 100% there, though, as these meat sticks contain 20 grams of protein per stick. Most other meat stick brands only contain 10-12 grams of protein per stick.
Cost Compared To CHOMPS
A 24-pack of CHOMPS Original Beef costs $49.99. That’s $2.08 per meat stick. However, each CHOMP contains only 10 grams of protein per stick, whereas 1st Phorm Meat Sticks provide 20 grams of protein per stick at only $0.86 extra per stick.

From left to right: back of 1st phorm meat stick, back of CHOMPS, front of CHOMPS, front of 1st phorm meat stick.
Conclusion
1st Phorm Meat Sticks are bigger, have more protein than other protein sticks and taste amazing. They fill a huge gap for me in terms of hitting my protein goals. I love the convenience of ripping it open, eating it and filling me up in the matter of minutes.
To me, I get a lot more value in buying these meat sticks over most other brands because of the 20 grams of protein per stick - it’s just hard to beat it.
If your budget allows, you won’t be disappointed in purchasing a 15-count of 1st Phorm Protein Sticks. You’ll probably be hooked just like I am.
