I Gave Cowboy Colostrum a Try – Here’s My Feedback

I’ve taken colostrum on and off for a few years now. And a new brand popped up called Cowboy Colostrum. When I had the opportunity to try it, I jumped right in. This is my experience.

As a mom who has breastfed two babies, I understand what colostrum aka liquid gold is and how precious it is. I’ve also been aware of colostrum supplements for a few years now, having taken Arma Colostrum (see my comparison on ARMRA vs Cowboy) on and off for years.

I’ve seen a lot of new colostrum supplements hit the market over the last few years, most of which haven’t really caught my eye. Because the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements, it’s easy for anyone to jump on a trend and create a supplement, but that doesn’t mean it’s worth its salt. However, I was recently introduced to Cowboy Colostrum and my interest was piqued.

Maybe it was the branding (who doesn’t love a good ranch/cowboy/cowgirl theme), but I knew I wanted to give Cowboy Colostrum a try. I got the vanilla starter kit and have been having a scoop a day for a couple of weeks, time to share some feedback!

Why Cowboy Colostrum?

Like I mentioned, I’m a sucker for anything Cowboy/rancher themed (Yellowstone, Ransom Canyon, Elsie Silver books…) so when I saw the branding for this product I was instantly drawn in. I loved the simplicity of the branding and the fact that they were only offering one product: colostrum.

I’ve taken colostrum on and off for a few years now. Arma has been my colostrum of choice, but as with most supplements, I am always happy and willing to try others. Moving past the surface level stuff, I was also really impressed with the integrity of Cowboy Colostrum. They were saying all the right things on their website:

Sourced from grass-fed cows on U.S. dairy farms

  • 3rd party tested
  • Hormone-free
  • Sustainable and humanely sourced
  • Unstripped (they keep the fat and protein for ultimate nutrient density)

Also, the brand was founded by two women, and I love supporting women-founded brands!

What I Ordered & My Experience

Cowboy Colostrum has 3 different options: unflavored, vanilla, or chocolate. You can also choose between buying a container of the colostrum or getting the starter kit which includes a hand frother (the preferred method for mixing your colostrum). I ordered the vanilla starter kit which included the frother.

Here's a video of my unboxing:

The starter kit with the frother is $79 if you do a one-time purchase. If you do the subscribe and save option, it’s $59 and it will be delivered every month. There were also travel packs to purchase, which is great for when you’re traveling or if you’re someone who wants to throw your supplements in your work or school bag.

I was thinking the vanilla would be delicious frothed into my morning coffee, but after reading the label I decided against it. Per the label, colostrum should only be mixed into cold beverages to preserve the nutrients and integrity of the product. I decided to try it with a glass of unsweetened vanilla almond milk instead. The bottle said milk or water but I felt like a creamy vanilla flavor would be better suited for a milk base.

I mixed a scoop (which is a pretty big scoop compared to the other colostrum I tried) into my milk and gave it a good mix with the frother. The colostrum mixed into the milk really well and gave a nice frothy foam on top. If you’re an iced coffee drinker, you’ll love swirling this into your iced coffee as a creamer.

Here's a video of me mixing my Cowboy Colostrum with Almond milk:

The flavor is great - super subtle vanilla. It made my milk sweeter and creamier, which was far more enjoyable to drink than just almond milk on its own. I can definitely tell that this product is hardier and more robust than the other colostrum supplement I was using. It’s got to be because they keep the fat in the mixture (but don’t worry, that doesn’t mean this product is high in fat and calories, it’s just 15 calories per scoop!).

So, to summarize:

  • It mixed well
  • It tastes great
  • There’s no weird texture or chalkiness

Results and Benefits

It’s always really hard to quantify results and benefits for supplements like this that work kind of behind the scenes. I think of colostrum kind of like a multivitamin - you take them because you know it’s good for you and it’s fortifying your body with essentials, but you don’t necessarily expect to notice any major results.

The biggest thing that I have noticed is that my nails are growing much more rapidly and they’re getting stronger. I am hopeful that the same thing is happening with my hair, although it’s harder to tell. Other than that, I feel like it has helped my digestion as well. I sometimes struggle with regularity, but taking colostrum daily helps me keep things moving.

Will I Keep Taking It?

Absolutely! I’ve actually been adding a scoop to my greek yogurt and it’s delicious - adding just a touch of flavor and a little more thickness. I top my yogurt with berries and some granola and it’s a great snack that’s loaded with nutrients and benefits.

I can confidently say that I prefer this colostrum supplement over the other one I was taking. I feel like the product itself is higher quality and the taste and texture is better, too. I am hoping to start to experience some additional benefits with consistent, long-term use. I would love to see some improvements in my hair especially as that’s always a struggle for me.

Want to Try Cowboy Colostrum, Too?

If you’ve been considering giving Cowboy Colostrum a try, I hope my review is helpful. I did ask the Cowboy Colostrum team if I could have a code to share with you all since I know a lot of you are going to love this product as much as I do.
