If you’ve been on a weight management journey, chances are you’ve seen dozens, if not hundreds, of GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) ads running across your social media feeds.
From brand names such as Ozempic®, Wegovy® and Zepbound® to compounded injection options like semaglutide and tirzepatide - there are plenty of medication options for all of us, but oral GLP-1s are limited.
Eden is changing the game (or so we think…) - creating the world’s first GLP-1 gummy, making it an intriguing alternative to those who get spooked out by injections.
Common sense tells us that injections are most likely the best method for GLP-1 treatments - hello absorption!
But can gummies be just as effective? We all know they’re more convenient.
It’s an important question to ask, because the price tag of the gummies are very similar to the compounded injections.
In this article, I’m going to cover everything you need to know about Eden’s GLP-1 gummies, if they are worth giving them a try, and provide some interesting studies that you may find very helpful.
Ready? Me too, let’s begin!
Eden GLP-1 Gummies - What Are They?

As someone who has been covering many GLP-1 providers, I knew it was only a matter of time before one of the brands came out with a gummy form.
Eden made history in 2024 by creating the world’s first GLP-1 gummy, and many consumers are wondering if they should give them a whirl (like this reddit post).
The gummies contain compounded semaglutide, just like the injections, but in a gummy form. It’s still a prescription medication, and you still need to meet the standard qualifications. You can find out if you qualify by taking the Eden quiz.
Do People Prefer Oral Gummies Over Injections?
Eden is claiming that 76% of people prefer oral medication over injections. Is this the data that they are gathering with their own customer base? I reached out to Eden and did not get a response (yet). If they do respond, I’ll be sure to come back and edit the post.
However, I did read the fine print on the bottom of their landing page that cited a REVISE study from the National Library of Medicine. It’s a very interesting study if you want to give it a read. But the gist of it is 76% of the people that they sampled initially reported they would rather take a once-daily oral medication vs a once-weekly injection.
Then the test subjects were provided a video of each medication method, how to use it, when to take it, etc. After watching those videos, people’s opinions switched and the numbers balanced out to almost 50/50.
Still, enough data for Eden to go ahead and create the product.
The main reasons why people prefer a gummy over the injection?
- Fear of injections/needles
- Fear of consequences of incorrect administration,
- Fear of pain of injection
- Concerns about stigma around injectable medication use
As for the REVISE study, most people said, “because it is taken orally instead of injected.” Fair enough.
I think it just depends on your preferences. But great to keep in mind before deciding which route you’ll want to take.
How Eden’s GLP-1 Gummies Work
After digging up a bunch of information, here’s how it works:
Compounded Semaglutide
The gummies have the same active ingredient as compounded semaglutide, which is just a version of semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic® and Wegovy®), but made by a compounding pharmacy.
So, basically licensed pharmacies add other ingredients to the semaglutide to produce compounded semaglutide.
Wait, is this safe?
Short answer: it depends on the source - AKA the pharmacy. Do they rigorously test the compounded version? My advice is to look up the pharmacies that Eden uses. On the surface, Eden has some testing protocols, like this one:

Once Per Day (Instead of Injections - Once Per Week)
Something to keep in mind when it comes to oral compounded semaglutide - you’ll have to take it once per day. With the injection, you take it once per week.
With GLP-1 gummies, you can take them on the go - great for frequent travelers. But, there are specific instructions you’ll need to follow, such as take them in the morning and don’t eat anything for 30 minutes after ingestion.
Obviously that can get very tedious doing that every day, and you’ll have to make a habit out of it.
Doses Can Be Increased, Just Like Injections
Eden does a great job of a few things:
- Their medical staff starts you off with a smaller dose to see how your body reacts to the compounded semaglutide.
- They then check in with you once per month to get information and determine if you stay at the same dose, or if it’s time to increase the dose - each patient will be unique.
- Transparent pricing with increased dosage - the price stays the same, regardless of dose.
So, yes, you can increase the dose of Eden’s GLP-1 gummies as you progress, as long as their medical team deems it necessary.
Effectiveness: Can Gummies Really Work Like Injections?
Let’s address the elephant in the room, shall we?
Absorption - I think anyone considering compounded oral semaglutide, including gummies, has absorption as a major concern. Rightfully so when you’re spending this kind of money.
With GLP-1 injections, it bypasses the digestive system, which leads to direct absorption into the bloodstream. This allows the medication to start working immediately.
There is already an oral compounded semaglutide tablet with some research behind it - it’s called Rybelsus®, which uses a special ingredient called SNAC to protect compounded semaglutide from being destroyed and help it absorb into the body.
A 2021 study on oral semaglutide absorption found that factors like fasting time and water intake significantly impact how much of the medication actually reaches your bloodstream, with bioavailability ranging from 0.8% to 1.4% (source). Compare that to injections, which is close to 100%.
Eden’s GLP-1 gummies work like Rybelsus® in a digestive way - they have to go through the stomach and intestines before getting into the bloodstream. The problem right now is that the medical field doesn’t know how much of the drug actually gets absorbed.
On top of that, Eden hasn’t revealed whether they use any absorption enhancers like SNAC.
Up to this point, GLP-1 injections are the most proven method. However, for those who fear injections, the oral tablets (like Rybelsus®) are an option. Eden’s GLP-1 gummies might not be as effective, but still an option, and hopefully more research and documentation is being conducted.
Oral Compounded GLP-1 vs Compounded Injections
Type | How Much Your Body Absorbs | How It Works |
---|---|---|
Injections (Ozempic®, Wegovy®) | Almost all of it | Goes directly into your body through a shot under the skin. No digestion needed. |
Oral Pill (Rybelsus®) | Less than 1% | Has to go through your stomach and intestines before entering the bloodstream. Special ingredients help it absorb better. |
Eden’s GLP-1 Gummies | Unknown | Likely works like the pill, but Eden hasn’t said if they use an ingredient to help absorption. |
How Much Do Eden’s GLP-1 Rx Gummies Cost?
The one thing I really appreciate from Eden is their transparent pricing. Many GLP-1 providers do not disclose their pricing until after you take a quiz. Eden’s different - they provide the pricing right in front of you.
Gummy Pricing:
Plan | Billing | Shipping | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Yearly | Billed annually | Shipped every 3 months | $246/mo |
6-Month | Billed every 6 months | shipped every 3 months | $276/mo |
Quarterly | Billed every 3 months | shipped every 3 months | $296/mo |
Let’s compare it to their compounded semaglutide injections product:
Plan | Billing | Shipping | Price |
---|---|---|---|
12-Month | Billed every 48 weeks | shipped every 4 weeks | $196/mo |
6-Month | Billed every 24 weeks | shipped every 4 weeks | $246/mo |
3-Month | Billed every 12 weeks | shipped every 4 weeks | $296/mo |
Monthly | Billed every 4 weeks | shipped every 4 weeks | $346/mo |
Another great thing about Eden’s pricing is it’s the same for every dose, meaning if Eden’s medical team thinks you can increase your dose, your price remains the same. As someone who has covered more than 100 GLP-1 providers, this is a huge perk because not all of them do that.
Cost Summary: The Eden GLP-1 Rx Gummies cost the same for the quarterly option, but are more expensive for the yearly and 6-month options compared to the compounded injections. There isn’t an option for a month-to-month plan for the gummies.
What this means: You have to weigh the pros and cons in terms of what you’re comfortable taking and the potential effectiveness of the method you choose. As I stated earlier, the gummies need more time to collect evidence, or proof of effectiveness, while the compounded injections remain the most effective to this date.
Note: Eden is running a $100 off your first purchase for the compounded semaglutide injections. You can claim that offer here.
Who Should (and Shouldn’t) Try Eden’s GLP-1 Gummies?
After conducting all of my research, it is very clear that the Eden GLP-1 Rx Gummies are for those who fear the needle and the injection method. This could be fear of pain, fear of not administering it correctly or concerns about stigma around injectable medication use. If that’s you, the gummies may be a fruitful option.
If you’re someone who doesn’t fear what I just mentioned, and you just want the best results, research points to compounded injections as the most effective absorption at this point in time.
Another thing to consider is the discipline you’ll need for each medication method. For gummies, you’ll need to take them once per day, on an empty stomach, and not eat anything for 30 minutes. As for the injections, you’ll need to take it once per week. Either way, you’ll need to develop a routine and have the discipline to stick with it.
Are You In Perimenopause or Menopause?
If you are in perimenopause or menopause, you may want to consider a GLP-1 provider that specializes in this field. There are a few options out there, Join Josie, MIDI Health and Joi Wellness being the top-rated based on our readers' experiences. Just google them.
Final Thoughts: Are They Worth Trying?
Are Eden’s GLP-1 Rx Gummies worth trying?
That depends on your personal preferences and fears around injection medications.
I really enjoyed covering this product, as I have become enamored of GLP-1s as I find them so fascinating.
The biggest takeaways:
- Be vigilant when choosing a GLP-1 provider - know what pharmacy they use, ask the right questions and don’t go into anything without knowing the details.
- Compounded GLP-1 gummies seem convenient, but you still need to be disciplined in sticking with the instructions.
- If you cannot fathom taking an injection, you may want to consider Eden’s GLP-1 Rx Gummies.
- If you are results oriented and want the most proven method, the injection has more research behind it.
