I just turned 37, and I’m becoming increasingly conscious of aging and longevity. Not only am I concerned with aging, but so are the hundreds of women I coach through fitness and nutrition.

As women, we want to age gracefully; we want to remain healthy, strong, and vibrant. As a personal trainer and nutrition coach, I obviously take a movement and nutrition approach to overall wellness and longevity, first and foremost, but I am not opposed to utilizing technology and prescription-grade products to keep us feeling young, healthy, and vibrant.

I was recently introduced to EllieMD, a telehealth platform that’s offering affordable, accessible, prescription-grade products that can elevate your health and promote longevity. In this article, I’m going to discuss my experience with EllieMD and whether or not I will be recommending them to my clients.

What EllieMD Offers

Let’s be honest, there is no shortage of telehealth companies out there offering weight loss injections, HRT, skincare, etc. But most of these companies focus on only one thing or have only a limited selection of products and treatments to choose from. The main focus and best-selling products on Ellie’s platform are definitely weight loss via GLP-1s. The thing that really caught my attention was that EllieMD is offering microdosed GLP-1s for the purpose of longevity, which means it can be prescribed to anyone (assuming it’s determined safe by your medical provider).

I have been following and researching the GLP-1 market for years, and the thing that I keep hearing repeatedly lately is that microdosing can be incredibly beneficial for women as they age. Getting started with EllieMD is really simple. All you need to do is first decide what type of treatment(s) you’re looking for. Then, you’ll create your profile using your name and email address, and head to the health questionnaire. You don’t have to physically meet with a doctor to get your prescription, which I personally like, but others might feel more comfortable meeting and talking with someone face-to-face. 

The questionnaire is pretty in-depth and definitely covers more bases than some of the other telehealth questionnaires I have filled out in the past. It’s very tailored for longevity and how your symptoms are impacting your quality of life.

Once your questionnaire is filled out, you will be asked to securely upload a copy of your driver’s license for identification purposes. You can choose to skip that step and move forward with your order, but if you do, they will send you an email requesting it anyway, so I would just go ahead and get it done so that your medication isn’t held up in any way. 

After that, you enter your payment information, and your information then gets sent to one of EllieMD’s medical providers, who will review your information to determine if you’re eligible for medication. If so, your prescription will be written and sent to one of EllieMD’s pharmacy partners, who will ship your medication directly to your doorstep. If, for some reason, you’re not eligible for the medication you requested, EllieMD will refund your payment to you. 

This process is all very standard and typical of an online telehealth company. I have worked with many, and almost all of them operate in this way. For me I love it because the barrier to entry is really low. It’s judgment-free, and you never have to leave your home.

Are The Medications Safe?

Here’s the thing: there’s a lot of noise in the GLP-1 and peptide space right now, a lot of which has to do with big pharma. Companies like EllieMD are selling compounded versions of branded medications. These compounded formulas include the same key ingredients and are made in FDA-compliant pharmacies.

This is the exact approach that dozens of companies selling GLP-1 medications are taking, and the benefit to the consumer is that they are able to get easier access to medications while keeping their cost down. EllieMD does a good job of explaining the risks and benefits of using their medications in their questionnaire. 

Compounded GLP-1s are not FDA-approved medications. Do your own research and make decisions that are aligned with your comfort level, budget, etc.

My Experience With EllieMD

Wait, Is EllieMD an MLM?

Of course, I can’t end this article without talking about the elephant in the room: Is EllieMD an MLM? 

We all know MLMs have a terrible reputation, but truly, it’s not a far cry from influencer marketing that we all willingly participate in. EllieMD operates an affiliate program that allows users to become brand partners, which just means that they get their own unique referral link and can share the products with others in exchange for a small commission. 

Brand partners can also recruit new brand partners, and if they do, they will get a piece of their commission, too. That said, there’s no expectation of brand partners to recruit anyone; it’s very laid back. If you enjoy what EllieMD is offering and you decide you’d like to share it with your friends, family, clients, followers, etc., you can. If one of those followers ends up wanting to share EllieMD, too, they can, and you’ll get a little kickback from that.

It’s not some evil pyramid scheme, it’s just a referral program that rewards people for spreading the word. I’ve partnered with hundreds of brands over the years, being in this industry, and can tell you that this is all very normal and standard. From a consumer perspective, there’s nothing sketchy about the process - you’re still purchasing the products, but whoever referred you will get a small commission for referring you.
