Deciding between Hims of Fella Health for GLP-1 weight loss medications?
Both Fella and Hims cater to men’s wellness, offering compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide for those who qualify. They both made my GLP-1 trending weight loss brands roundup.
While Hims started off as a men’s telemedicine brand, offering hair loss treatments, they have since launched a plethora of telehealth products, including GLP-1s, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation (PE), anxiety treatment, hair treatment, and anti-aging treatment. Yea… they have it all.
On the other side is Fella, who specializes in GLP-1 treatment for men looking to shed weight. Since gaining a fairly large customer base, Fella now offers a TRT product, called Enclomiphene, so they’re starting to catch up.
This is all important to know when deciding whether to go with Fella or Hims because it’s going to depend on your holistic approach to better wellness.
Do you just want a GLP-1? Or, would you be interested in more treatments down the road?
It’s time to break it all down.

Meet Fella Health
Fella Health has always been a men’s wellness brand, but they started off as a GLP-1 only shop.
They have since launched a TRT product, called Enclomiphene, which helps boost testosterone naturally in your body. The addition makes sense, because while GLP-1’s have shown significant evidence of appetite control, to get the best results you should add strength training to your regime to build lean muscle. This TRT product would help with that.

What Sets Fella Apart? And How Does It Work?
Fella stands apart from the pack with their tailored experience to busy men, AND their personalized customer communication services.
Here’s what I mean, and how it works:
If you know exactly what you need, you can click “Join Now” located at the top right of their website. From there, you can order compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide.
If you decide to go this route, it is strongly recommended you consult with your doctor beforehand so you know what you’re ordering.
My recommendation? Start with their quiz.
To start the quiz, you can click the “Get Started” button on their homepage, or click the “Continue” button, located on the menu section (top right).
The quiz is where Fella Health will get all of the useful information they need to help you get the right medication and the right dosage. This is where it’s tailored to busy men.
During the quiz, you’ll answer questions about where you’re currently at in your journey (height, weight), what your goals are, and some other personal questions.
Questions like these:

After you complete the quiz, it will give you your personalized GLP-1 weight loss plan, taking you to the checkout page.
They’ll give you options, though. For example, if they match you up with Tirzepatide (which costs more), and that’s not in your budget, you can choose Semaglutide instead.
Here’s the one I just received, and look at the top of the picture below, they are running $100 off on all plans.

Once you purchase, their board-certified clinicians will review the answers from your quiz and approve the medication if you meet the qualifications. Once approved, they’ll ship the medications straight to your door.
If you’re unsure about purchasing the medication, you can book a meeting with their founder, Richie Cartwright, where he will answer any questions you have and guide you through the process. I rarely see this service offered with other GLP-1 brands, it’s a nice personal touch.

Now, I didn’t go through and purchase because I’m not in the market for a GLP-1, but what I loved was that they followed up via text, asking why I didn’t purchase. It was a warm, helpful message from one of their team members, Jamie.
Here’s the text thread between us:

Ratings and Reviews of Fella Health

User reviews on Fella Health’s website are overwhelmingly positive with an overall rating of 4.9/5 consisting of 400+ verified customer reviews.
Most of the negative reviews were of customers disappointed in not losing more weight in the first month.
For example, here’s what “Kenneth B.” said,
“Been on the program one month and only loss about 2lbs. Thought I would have better results.”
And, Bob K. said,
“All is moving slowly. Lost 14 pounds in 3 months. Not bad, but much slower than I was advised.”
I took a snapshot of a few reviews to see for yourself:

Meet Hims
Hims is a full-service men’s telehealth brand, offering GLP-1s, hair loss treatment, ED, PE, and more. They’ve been around for a few years now and have built a rather large customer base.
If you go with hims, you’re going to be joining a large network of other men, but it won’t be specific to weight loss. However, their other offerings might interest you down the road - something to consider.
That said, they do an excellent job of taking care of their guys.

Other medications include:

Here’s How Their Telehealth Services Work:
Although the hims website is very clean, user friendly and aesthetically pleasing, there’s a lot going on, which could confuse you at first. That’s why they have a “Find my treatment’ button located at the top right of the webpage.
Once you click on that button, a widget will pop up of all the categories of services they offer. Once you click on one of those categories, you’ll be directed to a quick quiz.
For the purpose of this comparison, I clicked on “See if eligible for GLP-1 injections.” A quiz pops up and you start answering them.
Questions like…
“What’s your weight loss goal?”
“How many different weight loss programs have you tried in the past?”
“How much sleep do you get per night?”
And so on.
Here are some images that I took from the quiz:

After the quiz is completed, you instantly get approved and sent to checkout, much like Fella’s process.
If you decide to purchase, you would get in contact with their medical team and the medication gets shipped to your door.
It’s pretty similar to Fella, the only difference is they have, what it seems like to me, automated text messages, which loses the human touch.

Ratings and Reviews of Hims

Hims has a very low rating on Trustpilot, coming in at 3.1 out of 5 stars with over 5,500 user reviews.
While there are some glowing reviews, there are a lot of complaints, which focus on products not working as advertised, and customers not knowing they are signing up for a subscription.
Let’s take a look:

Comparison Section of hims vs fella
For this section, I’ll compare hims and fella across the following criteria that I believe would be helpful to make a decision:
Comparing GLP-1 Weight Loss Offerings
Both hims and Fella offer injectable GLP-1 medications - semaglutide and tirzepatide. The biggest difference is hims offers oral medications, which could be enticing for men who don’t want to do the injection. Could it work as effectively? Maybe, but you might run the risk of it not working as good, causing you to buy more. Do your own research (DYOR).
Comparing Other Men’s Wellness Offerings
Fella has one other telemedicine service, a TRT called Enclomiphene, which is for enhancing testosterone levels. It’s great that they offer this in conjunction with the GLP-1 because it could help you get in the gym and build muscle, which is vitally important when taking a GLP-1.
Hims, on the other hand, offers a plethora of treatments. I’ll list them out below:
You can call them the jack of all trades, but this section is important because it depends what you want right now vs what you may want down the road. Of course, you could always use Fella for weight loss and hims for everything else.
Comparing Price
Hims markets their GLP-1 at $99/month, which could look like a bargain if you’ve seen other prices out there. But this is deceiving if you don’t read between the lines. In the fine print, it says that it’s $99/month IF you pay for the full year up front, which means it would be $1,188 for the year, plus it's for the lowest dosage option.
If your dose increases, the price will increase, too, whereas Fella does not increase the price if the dosage goes up.
The deceiving part I don’t like as a consumer, but it’s not a bad thing overall because they are offering a discounted bulk rate.
If you choose the monthly-only option, compounded semaglutide costs $299/month.
Then, they have “oral medication kits” marketed for as low as $69/month, but there isn’t a lot of information after that.
Fella Health prices are very similar.
Here are Fella Health's pricing options for Semaglutide:
Here are their pricing options for Tirzepatide:
Here’s a table breakdown for each brand’s pricing on compounded Semaglutide:
Product Name | Monthly | 6 Month | 12 Month |
---|---|---|---|
Fella | $299/mo | $249/mo, or $1,494 (any dose) | $199/mo, or $2,388 (any dose) |
hims | $299/mo | $149/mo, or $894 (dosages between 0.85mg and 1.2mg per week) | $99/mo, or $1,188 (dosages between 0.85mg and 1.2mg per week) |
Comparing Customer Satisfaction
After reading many of the customer reviews on sites like Trustpilot and their official websites, it seems to me like Fella holds the cards for better customer satisfaction.
This is evident in my hands-on research as well. When I completed the Fella quiz, I was greeted by a Fella team member and we had a pleasant conversation - it was a real person.
When I finished the Hims quiz, I was immediately messaged, but it was automated and robot-like, losing a human touch that we all appreciate these days.
Which is Better? Hims or Fella Health?
Fella Health is better for a man looking for a GLP-1 medication provider, as they solely focus on GLP-1 weight management for men, whereas Hims is better if you might want more treatments in other areas down the road, as they offer more telehealth services.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, health insurance is not required to purchase a GLP-1 for hims or Fella Health
The amount of weight you can lose depends on your starting point and effort you put in during the treatment. Both brands use marketing such as, “lose 2-4x more weight.” But results will vary by each individual.
Yes both Fella and Hims are FSA & HSA eligible and both brands make it very easy for users. All you have to do is use your card to pay for the medication at checkout.
Talk to your doctor to see if it’s a good fit, or take the hims or Fella Health quiz to see if you qualify.
After you receive your GLP-1 medication, you can expect monthly check-ins by Fella and Hims healthcare professionals. These check-ins involve gathering feedback about the medication dosage to see if it needs to change in the future. In addition, each company tries to build a rapport with the patient, helping him on his way to better health.
Both Hims and Fella’s pricing for compounded semaglutide is $199/month (12 month plan, upfront). If you choose to do a month-to-month plan, they both cost $299/month.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a man and you’re in the market for GLP-1 weight management services, Hims and Fella are two great choices, and should be considered options. While Hims focuses on men, they don’t necessarily focus on GLP-1 medications only, whereas Fella Health does. This could be a major deciding factor for you, if you want a brand that is laser focused on helping you with your weight goals.
On the other hand, if you want a full service telemedicine provider, while also being male-specific, Hims offers more at this point. And that’s not to say Fella won’t get there, because I do believe that they will.
If you have any questions about Fella or Hims, leave them in the comments. I’ve been conversing back and forth between both of them for a while now, trying to learn their processes, and I have them down pretty good at this point. I’m happy to help, and good luck out there!
Next Steps
Consider what you want in a brand and what you’re going there for.
If it’s just weight management, Fella should be at the top of your list. They focus on this and they really treat their fellas the right way.
If it’s more than weight management, like ED, PE, hair loss treatment, or anxiety relief, hims should be front and center when shopping.
