Back in 2020, I had a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old at home. Despite the chaos of this time, I feel like we were also in a very special era of consumerism. Direct-to-consumer brands were popping up all over the place, one of which was Hiya, a children-specific vitamin company.
Prior to this time, multivitamins were purchased at the drug store, grocery store, or ordered from Amazon. However, companies like Hiya were now offering an alternative; order products directly from them and they will ship them to your doorstep.
Hiya caught my attention because they showed bright, fun, marketing and positioned themselves as a healthier alternative to “sugar-filled gummy vitamins.” Being a responsible mom who is always looking for the best options for my kids (and who doesn’t want their teeth to rot), I decided to give Hiya a try.
That’s when it all began, 4 years ago. I purchased Hiya for both of my toddlers and we haven’t looked back since. Here’s my full experience and review of Hiya Vitamins from a mom’s perspective and the perspective of two kiddos who have taken these vitamins for years.
Rating Hiya Multivitamins
After using Hiya’s Kid’s Vitamins for over 4 years, it’s safe to say that my family loves these products. We’re grateful for the quality of the vitamins and the convenience that Hiya offers.
Brand
Hiya was founded by two dads who wanted to create a better vitamin for their children. When Hiya first launched, their Kids Multivitamin was their only product. Years later, they have added multiple other kid’s supplements to their lineup. Each product is focused on quality and serves an important purpose in filling in nutritional gaps common to children. Hiya also focuses on making taking vitamins fun for kids with bright, fun, reusable bottles that your children will get to customize with stickers.
Quality Testing
Every single batch is third-party tested for heavy metals and microbials in a qualified, FDA-compliant lab (practically no other companies do this). Their thorough testing also ensures that the ingredients they claim to be in their products are indeed in there. Most supplement companies do not go to the trouble of 3rd party testing as it’s not required by the FDA.
Nutritional Content
Hiya Vitamins contain 15 essential vitamins and minerals for kids, however, the one essential nutrient that’s missing is iron. Fortunately, Hiya now offers a separate Iron supplement for kids that can easily be added to their daily vitamin routine.
Effectiveness
It’s difficult to quantify the effectiveness of a multivitamin, however, I can certainly speak to the fact that I feel much better about my children’s overall health and well-being knowing that I am supplementing them with vitamins that are helping to fill in the nutritional gaps in their diets. From a kid’s perspective, Hiya does a fantastic job of encouraging kids to take their vitamins by offering a delicious tablet that’s fun to eat and fun jars to keep them in.
Value
For new customers, you’ll get 50% off your first order making your initial Hiya Vitamins kit just $15 for the first month. After that, each 30-day vitamin supply is $30/month, which is definitely more expensive than a drug store vitamin, but it’s also a much healthier, higher-quality option. Additionally, the convenience factor of having your kid’s vitamins on a subscription that ships to your door each month ensures that you keep up with your kid’s supplement routine, which is extremely valuable in and of itself.
Why We Started Using Hiya Kids Multivitamins

I’m pretty sure Hiya first came across my radar in an Instagram or Facebook ad. Hiya does a fantastic job appealing to parents by showcasing their product as a better alternative to traditional, sugar-filled gummy vitamins.
Aside from the obvious health benefits, I was very attracted to the subscription model and the brightly-colored, customizable bottles that can along with them. Prior to Hiya, I would grab some multivitamins for my kids from the store, they’d take them intermittently throughout the month, and then we’d run out and it would be weeks before I would remember to grab another bottle. In short, I wasn’t very consistent.
Hiya offered a subscription model where your vitamins would be delivered to your door every month on autopilot aka no need to remember to buy more. I also liked that your first order came with a re-useable glass bottle and subsequent orders would be shipped in re-fill packages (so much less waste!).
Finally, another big reason why I chose to start using Hiya was because their vitamins were safe for kids ages 2+. At the time, my daughter had just turned 2 and almost every other vitamin brand I had ever tried was only appropriate for ages 4+. I loved that both of my kids could use these vitamins!
What’s In Hiya Vitamins
According to Hiya’s website, there are 15+ essential vitamins and minerals in their Kids Daily Essentials. I like that they break down each ingredient, explaining to parents what that particular vitamin is found in (i.e. Vitamin A is found in kale, carrots, squash), the amount, and the benefits.
For parents who want to know exactly what is in the vitamins they are considering giving to their children, Hiya does a fantastic job of breaking it down in a way that everyone can understand. Here are the essential ingredients in Hiya’s daily kid’s vitamins:
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin E
- Thiamin (B1)
- Riboflavin
- Folate (B9)
- Vitamin B12
- Biotin (B7)
- Pantothenic Acid (B5)
- Calcium
- Iodine
- Zinc
- Selenium
- Manganese
- Vitamin K
The only nutrient that’s missing and that also might be essential for your kiddo is iron. Hiya recently launched a separate iron supplement to fill that gap. I recommend doing your research and talking to your child’s pediatrician to see if adding on the iron supplement is a good choice for your child.
Third Party Testing
Hiya leads the way with third-party testing, ensuring every single batch is third-party tested for heavy metals like lead, mercury, chromium, arsenic, and cadmium. This ensures safety and compliance with the most stringent regulations. Furthermore, they create their vitamins in a qualified, FDA-compliant lab. This helps them stand apart from other kids vitamin brands as practically no other companies do this.
Initial Impressions

The kids are ready to take on the day with hiya vitamins!
I first gave Hiya to my kids back in 2020 when they were 2 and 4 years old. Prior to trying Hiya, my 4-year-old was the only one who had tried multivitamins before and they were gummies. I actually taste-tested Hiya first to see what they were like. Being a kid growing up in the 90s I was used to Flintstones Vitamins!
I was very pleasantly surprised by how good Hiya tasted without any added sugar. The tablet is crunchy, but not hard, it’s easy to bite into. Flavor-wise, I didn’t detect that typical “vitamin” taste that you usually experience when chewing up a multivitamin. It has a sweet, but not overly sweet flavor that’s actually very enjoyable.

After testing Hiya for myself, I gave a tablet to each one of my kiddos, who probably thought they were candy because they immediately asked for more! Both of my kiddos immediately liked Hiya, and so began our 4+ year run with Hiya Vitamins.
Both of my kids at the time were very picky eaters, so adding a multivitamin helped to give me peace of mind that they were getting the nutrition they needed. Other than that, I can’t really say I saw any differences in my kids as a result of taking the multivitamins, it was more of a feeling of satisfaction that their bodies were getting what they needed to grow, learn, and thrive.
To this day, both of my kids, who are now 5 and 8, look forward to having their daily vitamins alongside their breakfast. They also love decorating their bottles with stickers!
Additional Hiya Products
Hiya became well-known for its flagship product, Kids Daily Essentials, for a couple of years before it announced its second product, a kid’s probiotic.
At this point, we had already been loyal customers for over a year, so it was a no-brainer to order the Kid’s Daily Probiotic and try that out. This second product launch came at a time when the gut health industry was surging, and with few options for kid-specific probiotics, Hiya was positioned to make a good name for itself in this space, too.
I have always viewed probiotics as one of those products that you don’t necessarily see working, but you feel good about adding them to your routine. Kind of like multivitamins. The evidence is clear that adding a probiotic to your routine can help support your immune system, gut health, nutrient absorption, etc. I felt good about adding Hiya’s Kid’s Daily Probiotic to our routine. We actually rotate these and Seed PDS-08 kids probiotics, per our doctor's recommendation.

Additional products have been added over the last year or so, including; Kid’s Bedtime Essentials, Iron+, and Kid’s Daily Greens + Superfoods.
We tried the Kid’s Bedtime Essentials and the Iron + supplements but ultimately decided not to add those to our supplement routine. We have not tried the Kid’s Daily Greens + Superfoods yet, although I am planning to soon. I will keep you all posted on that!

Are Hiya Vitamins Worth It?
To be honest, it depends. If you’re a family living a on a limited budget that’s going to need to really stretch in order to maintain your family’s Hiya subscription, you shouldn’t feel guilty about choosing a less expensive vitamin from the drugstore.
That being said, if your budget allows and you (and your pediatrician) feel as though your child could benefit from adding a multivitamin to their routine, I would argue that Hiya is one of the best options on the market from a quality perspective.
I think those who are on the fence about trying Hiya should absolutely take advantage of their 50% off for the first-month deal so you can at least give their supplements a try. If you find that you and your kiddo(s) love them, you can enjoy the convenience of having them shipped to your door every month in eco-friendly packaging.
Wrapping Up
As a mom, I have peace of mind knowing that I am giving my kids a healthy multivitamin that doesn’t contain any junk or fillers. But more than that, I like knowing that my (still) picky eaters are getting the nutrients they need that they might be missing out on from whole foods.
We love the taste, packaging, and convenience of Hiya, it’s why we’ve used them for over 4 years and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Yes, the cost is a bit higher than some cheaper brands, however, the extra expense is worth it to me knowing that Hiya is a legitimate brand that works hard to deliver a superior product that both kids and parents feel great about.
