My journey to better health and wellness started two years ago. It was at that time I had irregular bowel movements, I felt bloated and I constantly got sick every other month. I never had any of these issues, let alone immune system issues until I turned 36 years old. What was happening?

My gut health was in terrible condition after seeing my results from a gut health test, and that’s when I hit rock bottom.

I was at a loss of what to do, and all I could think about was that something had to change.

After visiting with my doctor about all of this, he recommended that I take a synbiotic (prebiotic and probiotic combination supplement) to balance my gut bacteria, digestive health and to improve my immune system.

He went on to recommend a few products from reputable brands, one of them was Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic. I had never heard of it before and never had the idea of taking a synbiotic. So I went on a mission, doing research and asking around my friend group to see who has taken Seed.

Luckily a couple of my friends with similar situations as me were taking Seed as well. It was nice to know that I wasn’t the only one experiencing these gut health problems. And, I decided to try Seed for myself.

Two years later to this day, I haven’t looked back since and it was one of the best choices I ever made. My gut health is thriving, I have regular bowel movements and I can’t remember the last time I was sick (and this is with two young kids in school). Pretty cool, right?

I’m going to give you an inside look at my health and wellness journey, which started with Seed. I’ve been taking it for just over 2 years at the time of writing this review. I have results I want to share (good and bad), with the goal of helping you decide if Seed is right for you!

4.6/5

Rating Seed DS-01

Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic has been part of my routing for two years. Although I had a rocky start with some unwanted side effects, it ended up being a great experience with improved gut health.

Brand

Seed scores a perfect 5/5 stars in the brand category due to testing procedures, their commitment to excellence in probiotics and they have a very active scientific board.

Gut Health Results

I experienced amazing results in improving my gut health after two years taking DS-01. This produced a positive chain reaction in improving my immune system, regular bowel movements and zero bloating.

Side Effects

The first month and a half was rough for me. I experienced loose stools, my stomach hurt, and I didn’t feel the greatest. However, after that time frame, I had zero side effects.

Customer Service

Wonderful customer service, which gives them a perfect score. Anytime I had an issue with shipping (I moved once and they shipped it to my old house) the team at Seed resolved it quickly.

Value

Seed worked in so many ways for me, making the $49.99 per month price tag worth it. However, I would like to see this price drop down to $39.99 per month. I feel like that would be a great value. Right now, it’s just a good value.

What Is Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic?

box of seed ds-01 with packaging

Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic is a premium prebiotic and probiotic combination supplement designed to promote better gut health.

The thing I really liked about Seed when researching them, was that they focus solely on prebiotic and probiotics. At the time they had one product, which was Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic. They focused on that and perfected it with rigorous testing procedures, science and an expert-based team. Since then, they created a kids version - PDS-08 kids probiotic (my kids take PDS-08) and now a vaginal probiotic, which Tami started taking Seed VS-01 vaginal probiotic.

Their team has a scientific board, which consists of scientists, doctors and authors across various gut health fields. There are a total of 19 scientists listed on their official website. These scientists lead labs, teach around the world and have a plethora of peer-reviewed publications. I believe this is what separates Seed from the rest of the probiotic supplement brands.

That’s not all, though. DS-01 Daily Synbiotic is stored in ViaCap technology capsules, which in English means that the probiotics will make it to your colon - that’s when probiotics are most effective.

As a savvy consumer, I’m always looking for value. And, for $49.99 per month, I better get a synbiotic that’s going to be effective!

Other Key Points On Seed Synbiotic

  • There are 53.6 Billion AFU
  • DS-01 contains 24 potent strains
  • It’s for ages 18+
  • You do not need to store it in the refrigerator
  • It’s third-party tested for pesticides, allergens and quality
  • It’s vegan
  • They are easy to travel with, thanks to the glass travel vial
  • 92% of Seed customers have recommended DS-01 to a friend or family member. I was recommended this product by a few friends and I now recommend it to my friends and family.
  • It costs $49.99 per month
  • According to Seed’s official website, they have a 4.7 out of 5 star rating with 176 customer reviews (there should be a whole lot more, because a couple years ago, they never took customer reviews).

My Experience With Seed DS-01

My Story

My experience with Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic started two years ago when I found out through a gut health test through Viome that my gut health was in rough shape. I took the test because I was having irregular bowel movements, poor sleep, felt bloated and my immune system wasn’t holding up like it used to.

Consulting With My Doctor

After discussing my test results with my doctor, he was able to confirm that my gut health was not in good standing. I’m so happy I went and talked about it, although embarrassing, because he had recommended a few prebiotic + probiotic products - one being Seed.

Research Time

After doing hours of research on various brands and what type of prebiotic and probiotic strains I needed, I felt that Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic was the best choice for me. Talking to some of my close friends that had similar issues, they too mentioned that they use Seed. So it was at that point I knew Seed was a reputable brand and a quality synbiotic.

Taking Seed On a Daily Basis: My First Month

Seed recommends that you take the synbiotic once daily for at least 60 days to see results. I’m not going to sugar coat anything here, but my first month was pretty rough, which my research had suggested. This is due to the bad bacteria in my gut being killed off by adding new strains.

My gut felt like it wasn’t responding to the supplement very well, but what was really happening was that Seed synbiotic was actually cleaning it up. I had a few days (excuse my TMI) with diarrhea (or sometimes loose stools), gas, more bloating, my stomach ached, and I had occasional headaches.

About 3 weeks into taking it daily, I wondered if I should continue. So, I scheduled an appointment with my doctor and discussed some of the side effects I was experiencing. I had done my own research on the side effects of probiotics, so I had a pretty good idea what he was going to say. That said, my doctor did confirm that this should only be temporary and to give it another month. Needless to say, I finished my month’s supply of Seed hoping that the next month would turn around for the best.

The Second Month: Progress

I continued to take Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic every morning. It’s two capsules per day, but they recommend taking it on an empty stomach to limit exposure to digestive enzymes and bile salts.

At the 6 week mark, or 2 weeks into the second bottle of Seed, the side effects were subsiding substantially. I was no longer having diarrhea, the bloating feeling was going away, no more headaches and my stomach felt a lot better.

It’s also important to note that I changed my diet up quite a bit - sticking to a macro friendly diet and eating more lean protein and healthier foods. This is important because my experience may be different from someone who continues to eat unhealthy and expects Seed to fix their gut health - I’m not sure if that works, or not.

After month two, I felt like DS-01 Daily Synbiotic had cleared a lot of the bad bacteria out of my gut and replaced it with the strains I needed. I was excited to keep it going and start feeling better results.

3 Months and On

The 3 month mark was another turning point in my experience taking Seed. I can remember all the side effects going completely away, having more energy and it was the first time in months that I didn’t get sick from a cold.

I was starting to have regular bowel movements, my belly felt lighter and I didn’t feel bloated at all.

From that point on, I was a huge believer in Seed. But maybe more of a believer in synbiotic supplements. I was more amazed at the chain reaction of a stronger gut microbiome influencing almost everything else that I was struggling with.

My Results Through Two Years Taking Seed

I still take Seed to this day, so it’s over two years now at the time of writing this article. I have taken other supplements as well, like when I took AG1 for a year. It’s a similar product and often gets compared to Seed, but adds a leafy greens element to it. The cool thing for me is that I can take Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic with other supplements without any weird reactions.

For 2+ years taking Seed nearly every day (I may have missed a few days here and there - 2 years is a long time), I am ecstatic about the results that I received. I was really struggling with poor gut health, which I now know led to other health related issues.

My gut health is now in great standing, according to my doctor. But what I feel is what I value most. And that’s more energy throughout my day, regular bowel movements, no bloating, and I rarely get sick anymore (and that’s with having two young kiddos going to school).

Higher Energy To Fuel My Days

Having more energy helps me strength train and focus on eating high protein meals to help me in my muscle building journey. I’m now 38, almost 39 and my cardiovascular health is flourishing. I feel like I’m in my late 20’s again. My numbers in the weight room are at an all-time high, and I look forward to working out.

My kids are constantly asking me to come outside and play catch with them, hop in the pool, play with sidewalk chalk - you name it they want my attention. In order for me to be present with them and enjoy the time, I need to have enough energy, especially after a long day of work. I’m very grateful that my energy is back up to where it used to be, and I have to thank Seed for that.

Regular Bowel Movements

I know this may seem like a little TMI, but I want to be straight up with you. Before taking Seed, I was not regular. After 3 months of taking Seed (and still after 2 years), I am having regular bowel movements again. I can’t tell you how relieved I am of this, and I know some of y’all are in the same boat as I was, so I can relate.

Bye Bye Bloating

Before taking seed, every time I ate a meal I felt super full and “bloated.” It felt like gas had built up in my stomach. Quite frankly, it was very uncomfortable and most of the time painful. I realize now that it had something to do with my gut health, but I didn’t know that back then.

Remember I talked about that “turning point” at the 3-month mark taking Seed? Well, you don’t forget stuff like that. I remember feeling amazing after eating, no bloating at all. I was in disbelief, but happy. And now after 2 years, it’s just a normal, non-bloated feeling that I am grateful for every day.

Immune System Revitalized

There was a time, before taking Seed, I was getting sick almost every month, or every-other-month. With both of my kids going to school, camps, daycare, etc., they pick up germs and viruses and pass them to me. Well, at least they used to pass them to me.

Not anymore! I rarely get sick these days (knock on wood). I can’t even remember the last time I was sick to be honest. I believe Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic has been an impact supplement that has helped improve and strengthen my immune system.

Do I Recommend Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic?

Yes, I recommend Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic to any of my friends or family members who experience poor gut health. However, I am not a doctor, nor do I want to be one.

I would recommend you get a gut health test, just like I did, and then consult with your doctor about it. That’s what I did, and it ended up working out for me.

If your doctor recommends a prebiotic and probiotic combination supplement, Seed is my top choice, but there are other products out there that are similar.

Similar Prebiotic and Probiotic Combination Supplements

There are a few other products out there that I like to compare with Seed, which I have more information on them below:

Click on the product below to learn more why it's similar, and if you should consider it:

AG1

AG1 (formerly known as Athletic Greens) is an all-in-one supplement, but it’s a greens powder. So you’ll get your greens with AG1, but it also has prebiotics, probiotic and digestive enzymes in it. I took AG1 for a year and I still continue to use it. It has some different strains than Seed, plus I get my greens in on a daily basis (I don’t like to eat vegetables all that much). It costs $79 per month. Technically, you could just use AG1 instead of Seed, but I had amazing results with Seed that I won’t give it up. Plus, my doctor has told me to mix up the strains with probiotics, so it makes sense for me to keep taking AG1 and Seed.

Gundry MD Bio Complete 3

The Gundry MD supplement brand has been around for a long time, and they have plenty of customers to prove that their products work. Bio Complete 3 has prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics. The only reason I didn’t go with Bio Complete 3 is that Seed solely focused on one product, and I liked what I saw in terms of their testing, scientific board and transparent ingredients. Gundry MD Bio Complete 3 costs $44.95 per month.

Clean Simple Eats Probiotic + Prebiotic

Clean Simple Eats is a brand that my wife and I use for workout supplements. They are expanding almost every month, and this time they came out with a probiotic + prebiotic supplement. The formulation contains 25 billion CFUs with 11 specific strains. It’s aimed to relieve bloating and gas, support regularity, and enhance digestion. So, it’s very similar in terms of marketing. It costs just $35.99 per month. You can use code TAMI to get 10% off.

Conclusion

It’s crazy how fast two years goes by. But it was a great two years because I have never felt better, thanks to Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic.

Although there were some rocky roads in the first month and a half, I stuck with it, believed in it, and I was very impressed with the results I was able to achieve.

Now, I can finally give 100% effort in the weight room during strength training workouts. My energy has never felt better. I can be there physically and mentally for my kids when they need me, and I’m excited about it (I know… dad of the year).

Regularity with bowel movements has really improved my days - it’s amazing what that can do! Ok, too much information…

No more bloating - that’s great and something I don’t take for granted anymore.

I am super grateful that I found Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic because it has helped me in all facets of my life as a dad, entrepreneur, gym rat and husband.

Now, let me know in the comments if you took Seed and how it worked out for you and your unique situation. Or, if you plan to take it, come back and drop a line!
