WYNK Seltzer Review: A Better Buzz?

WYNK sent me some seltzers – so I tried them in hopes of potentially replacing alcohol. I share what happened when I drank one and how I felt the next day.

Over the past few years, I’ve experimented with significantly reducing my alcohol intake, even eliminating it altogether for over a year. The older I got, the more alcohol affected me in negative ways, to the point that I no longer felt the desire to drink at all.

Growing up, I had a complicated relationship with alcohol, and when I hit my teens through my early twenties, I binge-drank entirely too much. By the time I was 30 and had two kids, my days of drinking to the point of excess were gone, but I still enjoyed a drink or two most weekends.

Now that I’m almost 37, alcohol just hits me differently. Even one glass of wine with dinner will leave me with a headache and just feeling “off” the entire next day. As someone who is in the fitness and nutrition space, I value feeling good every day, and alcohol simply wasn’t fitting into my lifestyle any longer (at least not very often).

While I still enjoy a margarita or glass of red wine from time to time, I have also started exploring alcohol alternatives to get that same kind of “buzz” or relaxed vibe, but without the hangover and extra calorie consumption.

I recently tried WYNK Seltzers (thank you, WYNK, for sending these my way) and am here to report back on how I like them. I know so many of us are “sober curious” these days and are looking for other ways to relax and unwind. I hope this is helpful!

What I Got From WYNK

WYNK offers 3 different levels of THC: 2.5 mg, 5mg, and 10mg. I opted for the 2.5mg seltzer as I am not very experienced with CBD/THC (I sometimes use Cured Nutrition Serenity Gummies, but that’s the extent of my experience).

I am also someone who doesn’t like to feel “out of it” or “high,” so I figured my best bet would be the 2.5mg cans. According to WYNK, the 2.5mg seltzer is equivalent to drinking a light beer, which would be good for a light buzz for me, so that sounded perfect.

I ordered the “Experience Pack,” which comes with 4 different flavors:

  • Black Cherry Fizz
  • Tangerine
  • Lime Twist
  • Juicy Mango

I immediately loved that these THC seltzers felt very reminiscent of alcohol seltzers as far as flavors go.

What’s Inside WYNK Seltzers?

I obviously scoped out the nutrition information before consenting to being sent the drinks to try, and I was very excited about what I saw. There’s no alcohol (obviously), zero sugar and zero calories (a big win for my health-minded people with goals), and a 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD.

Now, if you’re like me and you feel a little weird about using CBD/THC because you grew up with the “drugs are bad” belief (I get it, and I do think drugs are bad, for the record), it’s important to know that these drinks are completely legal and safe.

WYNK seltzers are made from hemp-derived THC, which is federally legal. It has the same THC molecule and effect as marijuana-derived products, but it comes from hemp instead.

My First Drink

I was super excited when my WYNK delivery came. I have tried some other alcohol alternatives or non-alcoholic drinks, and they just don’t do it for me. Most of them are still laden with calories and sugar and they provide absolutely no buzzy effect.

I chose Lime Twist to start with. The cans are small and easy to grab and drink. When I cracked open the can, I detected a faint “CBD” smell and was a little nervous that it might have a pungent taste. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first sip, and it tasted like nothing more than a crisp, lime-flavored seltzer.

I took the drink very slow, not knowing how my body would react. Within about 5 minutes of having my first few sips, I started to notice a very subtle light buzz. It was a good feeling, and I didn’t get any indication that drinking the whole can would cause me to lose control or get loopy.

According to WYNK’s website, you can expect the effects to onset in 10-15 minutes, but I found it happened a bit sooner. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that I’m a serious lightweight when it comes to substances because I rarely partake these days.

Overall, I felt really light, happy, and more relaxed after drinking my first can of WYNK. This feeling continued for probably an hour or so after I finished the drink, and then I felt pretty much back to normal. I loved that the buzz wasn’t some extreme thing, and I definitely didn’t feel “high.”

How Did I Feel the Next Day?

This is usually where my biggest concern is when it comes to partaking in anything. I’ve grown to have a serious phobia of feeling yucky the next day. Thankfully, I wake up from drinking WYNK feeling totally normal - not a hint of a headache or hangover in sight.

One thing that I did note after my first WYNK was that my mouth felt drier. I notice this same effect when I use Serenity Gummies. I’m not sure if this is a common side effect or just something specific to me. It’s not terribly bothersome; a little extra water and I’m totally fine, but I figured I would share that tidbit.

Will I Keep Using WYNK Seltzers?

100% yes. I am actually very excited about WYNK; in my opinion, it’s a win-win. I get to feel the breezy, relaxing vibes that come with a low-key buzz while not adding any additional calories to my day. I also noticed that I didn’t get extra hungry or “munchie” like I usually do when I’m drinking alcohol, so this was yet another reason why I will be keeping these stocked in my fridge.

My only hesitation on WYNK is the cost; it’s $83.99 for a one-time purchase of 24 cans or $67.19 for a recurring subscription (have them shipped to your door every month). While the cost seems high at first, when I did the math, it comes out to ~$3.50 per can as a one-time purchase and ~$2.79 per can if you do the subscription. I know we’re all spending a lot more than that on drinks out, but if we’re comparing that to grabbing a 12-pack of White Claws for home, it’s about $1 more per can.

For me, this additional cost is well worth it, as I am not someone who would drink these every night or drink multiple at once. These drinks are a once-in-a-while thing for me when I’m feeling like relaxing and having a bit of an elevated good time. I’m already thinking ahead to sitting by the pool and sipping one of these. Plus, the extra cost to not feel like sh*t the next day is very worth it for me.
